The Organising Board of the Vietnam Saigon Garment and Textile Machinery, Accessories and Materials Expo 2015 (Saigon Tex 2015) held a press conference at the Hoang Van Thu Exhibition Centre, Ho Chi Minh City on April 9, 2015. The exhibition took place over four days from April 9 to 12.
Saigon Tex 2015 was held by the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), VCCI Exhibition Service Co Ltd, and CP Exhibition, Hong Kong under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, and the Association Garment Textile Embroidery Knitting of Ho Chi Minh City.
At the press conference, the Organising Board said the response to Saigon Tex 2015 is very good. Specifically, the exhibition attracted 655 exhibitors from 21 countries and territories such as Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Japan, South Korea, China, Macau, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, the US and the UK.
Covering a campus of 15,000 square metres, an increase of 15 percent from the previous edition, Saigon Tex 2015 also served 15 percent more exhibitors than the 2014 event. The Organising Committee is expected to attract 12,000 trade visitors and 2,000-3,000 visitors a day.
In terms of quality, displayed machinery and equipment had higher technologies and visitors easily found automated machines at this show like automated machines for shirt, jeans and trousers making, high-tech pressing machines and equipment (used for manufacturing apparels), multi-needle sewing machines, computerised lockstitch machines, computerised embossed printers, automated checkers, and testing equipment.
Particularly, while European companies continued their attendance, the number of Asian exhibitors increased 16.8 percent compared with 2014. Remarkably, attendants from Thailand Japan, South Korea and Taiwan climbed 40 percent. The return of separated India pavilion was also the highlight of Saigon Tex 2015.
Saigon Tex 2015 focused on two main fields: Machinery and accessories for garment - textile industry. The number of exhibitors at both fields was quite equal. The participation of fabric and garment accessories jumped 23.6 percent over 2014. The presence of textile machinery exhibitors also grew by 13.4 percent over the last year.
Remarkably, the difference of Saigon Tex 2015 came from fabrics and materials. Specifically, visitors heard thousands of new concepts of fabrics and materials such as vegetable fibres, spun yarn, filament, pet-chips plastic beads, artificial silk, jute, hemp, acrylic yarn , visose fibre, rubber thread, print, yarn-dyed fabrics, adhesive paper, reflective tape, sanding band, hair band, and pearl buttons. These were valuable material supply sources for Vietnamese companies to serve production and export.
According to the organisers, the growth of Saigon Tex 2015 marked an important herald on the way to Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement as suppliers and buyers eagerly expect the conclusion of this free trade agreement. Vietnamese businesses are now taking steps to prepare for the TPP.
Besides, Saigon Tex 2015 also held related workshops like a workshop on preparatory steps TPP (April 10), a workshop on better understanding the rules of origin of textiles in major export markets (April 11), and LEAN manufacturing model in garment-textile industry (April 12).
Specifically, Saigon Tex 2015 also had a four-day fashion show with the catwalk decorated laser-printed denim.
Saigon Tex 2015 was proudly admitted to UFI - the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. As a UFI member, Saigon Tex was certified to meet UFI international quality standards. UFI currently has 654 members, including 339 trade exhibitions, 90 exhibition centres, 125 exhibition organisers, 36 national and international associations, and 51 partners from 83 countries.
