US$2.8 Bln in FDI Poured in Mekong Delta
The Mekong Delta has attracted US$2.8 billion in 125 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects over the recent 10 months of 2015.
Among provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, Long An took the lead with 102 FDI projects, worth US$156 million. It was followed by Tra Vinh Province, Tien Giang Province (US$42.6 million), An Giang Province (US$34.7 million), Can Tho City (US$15.9 million) and Vinh Long Province (US$12.8 million).
As many as 57 projects had additional capital of US$256 million in 10 months, raising the total newly-registered and additional capital to US$3.05 billion.
Ten provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta have attracted 1,030 FDI projects, valued at US$14 billion.
To attract more FDI, the region needs to take effective measures to improve human resources and infrastructure quality.
