23 Vietnamese Tra Fish Exporters Qualified for US Market

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently released a list of eligible catfish exporters of four countries, including Vietnam. Exports will be shipped under the US inspection programme for Siluriformes fish, including tra and basa catfish.

 

Vietnam has 23 qualified plants, followed by China with 19, Myanmar 13 and Thailand seven.

 

The inspection programme, which came into force on March 1, 2016, begins an 18-month transitional implementation period for both domestic and international producers. When the transitional implementation period is over, the programme will be fully applied. To export to the US after the transitional period, exporters of Siluriformes must submit applications to the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) under the USDA based on equivalency conditions.
