US, VN Rake in Nearly US$14 Bln Trade Turnover in Jan-Apr

The US brought the biggest trade surplus for Vietnam, totalling US$25.67 billion in 2015 and US$8.98 billion in the first four months of 2016 (an increase of US$1.48 billion from the same period of 2015.) Vietnam - US trade growth jumped in the latest 10 years, from US$8.81 billion in 2006 to US$41.26 billion in 2015, representing an average annual growth of 19 per cent. Vietnam always runs high trade surplus with the US, particularly from US$8.85 billion in 2006 to US$25.67 billion in 2015.
 
Vietnam earned US$11.45 billion from exports in the first four months of 2016, accounting for 21.6 per cent of the country’s exports and rising 15.8 per cent from the same period in 2015. Foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises exported goods worth of US$8.35 billion in the four-month period, up 17.7 per cent year on year and equal to 72.9 per cent of the country’s exports to the US. Key exports to the US included apparels (US$3.4 billion, accounting for 29.7 per cent of Vietnam’s exports to the US and growing 6.7 per cent over 2015), telephone and parts (US$1.466 billion, accounting for 12.8 per cent of Vietnam’s exports to the US and rising 83.8 per cent on year), footwear (US$1.33 billion, accounting for 11.6 per cent of the country’s shipments to the US and climbing 8.6 per cent year on year).
