VCCI President Receives Outgoing Australian Ambassador

Dr. Vu Tien Loc, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), received outgoing Australian Ambassador Craig Chittick at VCCI Head Office in Hanoi on June 27.

At the meeting, Dr. Loc congratulated Ambassador Craig Chittick for his successful term in Vietnam, praising his important contributions to Vietnam-Australia relations development over the past time, especially as the two countries upgraded the relationship to a strategic partnership in March 2018. This is considered an important milestone in the bilateral relationship, elevating the ties to a new high and increasing the opportunity for business cooperation and investment on both sides.

Dr. Loc also affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to relations with Australia and highly appreciated the comprehensive partnership of the two countries that has constantly developed strongly in all fields. He hoped that the two sides will further strengthen economic cooperation, trade exchange and investment to lift the two-way trade turnover to reach a more impressive figure. According to the VCCI President, in the coming time, the two sides should continue to implement practical measures to make good use of multilateral agreements of which both are members, especially the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Ambassador Craig Chittick expressed his delight to see the rapid and sustainable relationship of the two countries in the past years and affirmed that Vietnam is always an important partner of Australia. However, these outcomes are still modest, incommensurate with the potential and strengths of the two countries. He hoped that businesses the two sides will have many cooperation programs, especially in infrastructure development, climate change response and human resources training and development.

He also appreciated the valuable support of VCCI in general and VCCI President Vu Tien Loc in particular during his term of office. He affirmed that, in any position, he will continue to contribute positively to the development of Australia - Vietnam relations in general and of their businesses in particular.

On this occasion, VCCI President Vu Tien Loc awarded a medal to Ambassador Craig Chittick.
