Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted welcome ceremony for and held talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Ha Noi on July 5.
Speaking at the talks, PM Phuc affirmed Viet Nam consistently attaches importance to consolidating and enhancing the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Armenia in an effective, practical and sustainable manner.
The two PMs highly valued the two countries’ fine political ties, pledging to foster the exchange of delegations at all levels and across channels as well as coordination at the United Nations, the Francophonie community, Non-Aligned Movement in order to contribute to peace, stability and development.
The pair agreed to improve the effectiveness of the inter-governmental committee for economic, commercial, scientific and technological cooperation and focus on fruitful realization of the Viet Nam-Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) free trade agreement to further advance the two-way trade and investment ties.
Both sides also agreed to expand cooperation in education and training, culture, sports, tourism and defense-security.
At the talks, the two leaders also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concerns, including the East Sea issue.
After the talks, the two PMs witnessed the signing of an agreement on education and science cooperation between the Governments of Viet Nam and Armenia.
Nikol Pashinyan is the first Armenia's Prime Minister visiting Viet Nam since the two countries established diplomatic ties on July 14, 1992.
