Hai Phong Customs Department recently hosted a logistics business conference in 2023 with 90 attendants from customs clearance agents, shipping lines, transportation services firms, warehouses, yards, ports and logistics services providers in Hai Phong City.
Deputy Director Tran Manh Hung emphasized that Hai Phong Customs Department is always willing to receive recommendations from businesses to improve service quality and the role of authorities to boost the development of the logistics service industry and build Hai Phong City into a modern international logistics center.
Attending businesses pointed out some bottlenecks in the logistics industry in the city. For example, congestions and delays in providing/returning empty containers at some yards in Hai Phong City affected the progress of goods release, increasing costs for companies. They also asked shipping lines to remove obstacles and difficulties arising from security deposits for container shells and advances in container repairing to reduce financial burdens and reduce procedures for companies.
At the conference, representatives from some shipping lines (like MAERSK Vietnam, OOCL Vietnam and SITC Vietnam) pledged not to collect the above fees and conduct a review of and assessment of container providing/returning process of partner units to request improvements, speed up progress, raise service quality, reduce cargo release time, and create competitive advantages for logistics service businesses in the city.
Determined to support and cooperate with businesses to overcome difficulties, the Hai Phong Customs Department recorded and gathered all obstacles and difficulties beyond its authority to transfer to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the Hai Phong City People's Committee, and relevant agencies for consideration of solutions to those hindrances for companies at the earliest.
