Vietnam’s footwear export turnover is predicted to reach US$3.3 billion next year, according to the Trade Information Center.
According to the center, the figure for 2005 will reach over US$3 billion, an increase of 30 per cent against 2004.
The footwear industry in November earned US$240 million from outbound sales of the product, raising the total figure in the first eleven months of this year to US$2.63 billion.
Currently, local enterprises in the field are striving to boost exports of their products to foreign countries such as the US, Japan, Canada, South Africa and other foreign markets. South Africa’s import of footwear products from Vietnam is forecast to reach around US$22-25 million this year.
