Mobile Internet Marketed in Vietnam
In the age of new technologies, the Vietnamese market and users have been in need of searching information on the Internet, checking mail or participating in an important meeting in offices via laptops without Internet connection or even they are in the street. The requirement has been met when the EVN Telecom Information Company (EVN Telecom) under Electricity of Vietnam and Ubiquam Co., Ltd. of Korea introduced the solution called “Mobile Internet EVN-Ubiquam” at Expo on Telecommunications & Networking (Comnet Vietnam 2005) on December 13, 2005.
“Mobile Internet EVN Telecom” is considered a warm-up for the mobile broadband market in Vietnam and has received a special attention of viewers at the exhibition. Mr. Hoang Van Nhuan, Vice Director of EVN Telecom, said: “The market feels very highly enthusiastic in the new service. Up to now, EVN Telecom has received many orders and the company is trying its utmost to meet the expectation of customers.”
The mobile Internet service is able to reach a speed of 156kbps or many times higher if having EV-DO support (evolution data only/evolution data optimized). With only PC, laptop, PDA, or even mobile phones, registration of EVN Telecom service and connection to a terminal device of Ubiquam, users can access to the Internet at any time at everywhere with EVN Telecom coverage. EVN Telecom announced that EVN Telecom coverage has reached tomore than 30 out of 64 provinces and cities in Vietnam at present and as planned to the whole country in the first quarter of 2006.
Ubiquam is one of partners of EVN Telecom in warming up the mobile broadband market in Vietnam. With terminal devices such as card Internet UM300, UM100, and cell phones provided by Uniquam, users can view information, transmit or download data, send or receive emails everywhere at any time out of the office, stressed Mr. Eun-Jong Kim, President/CEO of Ubiquam Co., Ltd. It is very convenient.
In recent years, there are many changes in the Vietnamese telecommunication sector due to a fierce competition from service providers. In 2006, when telecom terms and conditions in the Vietnam-US Trade Agreement take effect and more foreign investors enter the potential market, new technologies as well as quality of services will be much improved. Therefore, the launch of Mobile Internet EVN-Ubiquam in the local mobile broadband market is also expected to make the Vietnamese telecom market more exciting in the near future.
