Vietnam - Biggest Trade Partner of Kunming City
Vietnam has become the biggest commercial partner of Kunming as it imported US$130 million from the city after first eleven months in 2005, Beijing radio reported recently.
Besides, export revenue of the capital of Yunnan province in southern China from Vietnam increased, but particular number had not been announced.
The city has organized a total of six trade fairs to promote commercial activities between Vietnam and Kunming since 2002.
In May last year, Vietnam turned its trade representative chamber in Kunming into a consult general.
Last July, Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai pledged to boost trade and economic relation with Yunnan province while attending the second Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Summit. Khai and Governor of Yunnan Xu Rong Kai committed to bring bilateral trade to US$1-2 billion in the coming period.
Yunnan, which is located in southwestern China, shares its border with four northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam, namely Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Lai Chau and Dien Bien.
