Recently, NS BlueScope Vietnam’s factory in Phu My has been certified with ResponsibleSteelTM, becoming the first in Vietnam’s steel industry and the first alloy-coated steel plant in Southeast Asia to be achieved this certificate. Phu My factory is the third of its kind across BlueScope’s global production facilities to be a responsible steel manufacturer.

In order to be eligible for this certificate, business is to meet 12 strict criteria in ESG that are specifically designed for steel industry. These criteria enable businesses to have a common transparent roadmap applied globally for responsible steel manufacturing. NS BlueScope Vietnam’s plant in Phu My, particularly, meets most of these strict criteria, which is rarely seen in the industry.

Previously, in 2022, NS BlueScope Vietnam was also the first coated steel manufacturer and the only of its kind in Vietnam to be certified green label by Singapore Green Building Council. The Company’s factory in Ba Ria – Vung Tau also gained LEED Gold Certificate. Being certified ResponsibleSteelTM not only helps NS BlueScope Vietnam to envision its roadmap in producing steel responsibly but also inspire other businesses in the industry, partners, and suppliers to adopt ESG practices in accordance with ResponsibleSteelTM standards, thereby sharing ESG values and contribute to building a more sustainable steel community.
