Vinachem: Pioneering Greening and Digital Transformation of the Chemical Industry

On May 10 and 11, 2025, at the Hoan Kiem Lake walking street, Vietnam Chemical Group (Vinachem) organized a series of large-scale events to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh in conjunction with the "greening" and digital transformation program of the chemical industry. The event attracted a large number of people and employees, marking an important turning point in the journey of sustainable development and innovation of the Vietnamese chemical industry.

Remembering Uncle Ho, arousing pride in the chemical industry

The series of activities took place at a time when the whole country celebrated many major holidays in April and May, especially towards the 135th birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025). Hoan Kiem Lake walking street was decorated with colorful flags and flowers last weekend. From the early morning of May 10, thousands of people and Vinachem staff were present to attend the opening ceremony. The event opened with a solemn ceremony to commemorate the beloved leader - who laid the foundation for the country's industrialization aspirations and always cared about the development of the Vietnamese chemical industry.
In the central space, the photo exhibition "President Ho Chi Minh and the Chemical Industry - Memories and Beliefs" displayed precious documentary photos marking the 5 times the beloved leader of the nation visited the Group's member units. The exhibition brought moving historical moments of Uncle Ho's visits to chemical factories and enterprises - the predecessors of today's Vinachem.

Launching the greening campaign associated with digital transformation

The most important highlight of the program was the launching ceremony of the "Greening - Digital transformation of the chemical industry" campaign taking place on the morning of May 10. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phung Quang Hiep - Chairman of the Board of Members of Vinachem - emphasized the importance of sustainable development in the new period. "Green transformation is not a temporary trend, but an inevitable development path of the Vietnamese chemical industry. Vinachem is strongly committed to applying advanced technology, minimizing environmental impacts and improving product quality to serve people's lives" - Mr. Hiep affirmed. Vinachem leaders also announced a specific action program to realize the commitment to greening the chemical industry associated with digital transformation and sustainable development. This is considered a turning point for the whole Group to accelerate the application of science and technology 4.0, improve production and business efficiency in parallel with environmental protection.

In response to the launching ceremony, thousands of Vinachem officials, employees and people of the capital enthusiastically participated in the walking program "Vinachem Steps Forward 2025 - Pioneering in greening the chemical industry" around Hoan Kiem Lake. In the green uniform, the procession stretched for kilometers, creating an extremely exciting atmosphere. The bustling drum beats and the slogans "For a green Vietnam" echoed to encourage the spirit of the participating teams. "Walking around the lake not only improves health but also contributes to spreading the message of environmental protection, it is very meaningful" - Ms. Le Thu Huong (a resident of Hoan Kiem district) excitedly said. It is known that this walking program is part of the campaign to mobilize the whole population to exercise for health and the environment, an initiative of Vinachem in response to the Government's call for green living. The activity attracted a large number of participants of all ages, thereby spreading the message of community responsibility for the green environment in a practical way.

Launching consumer products and Vinachem e-commerce platform

Within the framework of the event, Vinachem for the first time launched a set of consumer products on the VinachemMart e-commerce platform - a milestone showing the Group's transformation towards the retail market. The three main product groups introduced include:

• Household chemicals: Products such as hand sanitizer, dishwashing liquid, floor cleaner, laundry detergent, detergents, etc. are manufactured by Vinachem units according to strict processes, safe for health and environmentally friendly.

• Batteries - Accumulators: High-quality batteries and accumulators, with outstanding durability, stable performance, meeting diverse needs from civil to industrial. This is a strong product group of Vinachem with the Con O battery brand, Dong Nai battery (PINACO) that is familiar to many generations of consumers.

• Tires and tubes: Tubes and tires for bicycles, motorbikes, cars - ensuring durability and superior performance on all terrains. Typical tire brands such as Casumina, Da Nang Rubber (DRC) have affirmed their names domestically and internationally.

Visitors had the opportunity to experience the products in person at the display booths of 8 Vinachem member units. Each booth introduced typical products, from cosmetics, fertilizers to tires, batteries, etc., clearly demonstrating Vinachem's capacity and position in the domestic market. Many young families were excited to shop online for the first time for high-quality "Made in Vietnam" products right at the event through the VinachemMart application installed on their phones. Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu - General Director of Vinachem - said that the launch of the VinachemMart e-commerce platform and the new consumer product line not only helps people easily access Vinachem's goods, but also affirms the Group's determination to digitally transform business. "We expect VinachemMart to directly connect manufacturers with consumers, cutting out intermediaries, thereby bringing reasonable prices and convenient experiences to customers," Mr. Tu shared. In addition, Vinachem also focuses on greening consumer products, aiming to use environmentally friendly packaging and recyclable materials in new product lines.

The series of historic, pioneering greening and digital transformation events organized by Vinachem are not only an occasion to celebrate President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, but also a strong affirmation of the Group's commitment to sustainable development, innovation and digital transformation in the new period. According to Mr. Phung Quang Hiep, Vinachem's efforts in greening and circularizing production are contributing to realizing the goal of reducing at least 5% of CO₂ emissions by 2030 (compared to 2024) and moving towards carbon neutrality by 2050, in line with Vietnam's common commitment. Vinachem is determined to continue to pioneer the application of modern science and technology, build "green factories, smart factories" as well as train high-quality human resources to develop the Vietnamese chemical industry greenly and sustainably in the future. The message “VINACHEM – Greening the chemical industry, accompanying a sustainable future” was strongly spread at this event, which is a promise for Vinachem’s positive contributions in the journey ahead.
