December 10, 2025 – Vietnam Agribusiness Limited (VAL), a joint venture between Bunge and Wilmar focused on oilseed processing and the supply of food and feed products, officially inaugurated its second soybean crushing line at Phu My 1 Industrial Park, adding 4,000 tons to its daily processing capacity. This expansion, combined with Line 1 (in operation since 2011), boosts VAL’s total crushing capacity to 7,800 tons per day, solidifying its position as the Largest Soybean Crushing Complex in Southeast Asia.

A panoramic view of the inauguration ceremony of the second soybean oil pressing line, making VAL the largest soybean oil pressing complex in Southeast Asia.
This development marks a significant milestone for VAL, directly strengthening Vietnam’s strategic raw-material security for its livestock and food industries.
Under the theme “Rising Together”, the ceremony was attended by: Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, His Excellency Rajpal Singh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam, Her Excellency Anne Benjaminson, Deputy Principle Officer, U.S Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Kuok Khoon Hong, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Wilmar International Limited; Mr. Greg Heckman, Chief Executive Officer of Bunge; along with local government leaders, strategic partners, and members of the Boards of Management of Bunge, Wilmar, and VAL.
Located on an 11.2-hectare site within a strategic industrial hub, the VAL complex stands among the most advanced facilities in the region, purpose-built for maximum efficiency and superior product quality. The complex features eight high-capacity storage silos totaling 120,000 tons, equipped with fully automated temperature and humidity control systems to maintain freshness, nutrient stability, and optimal processing standards.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony.
With an investment exceeding USD 100 million, the new line is engineered to leading international standards, integrating full automation with real-time quality monitoring and control systems. These cutting-edge innovations optimize operational efficiency, conserve energy, ensure consistent product quality and uphold the highest safety and environmental standards.
Integrating advanced technologies from global leaders such as Desmet, Crown, and Bühler, the facility features fully automated processes from cleaning, dehulling, and flaking to conditioning and extraction. Smart sensors, combined with NIR analysis, continuously monitor critical parameters, minimizing deviations and ensure consistent product quality. Operations adhere to stringent international standards, including HACCP, HALAL, KOSHER, ISO 22000:2018, ISO 14001:2015, FSSC ver.6, and OSHA, thereby ensuring food safety, transparent traceability, and environmental responsibility.

Ambassador Rajpal Singh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam, delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony.
At full capacity, both crushing lines will annually process up to 2.6 million tons of soybeans, producing close to 2 million tons of soybean meal, meeting approximately 30% of Vietnam’s domestic animal feed demand. VAL offers customers on-time delivery, fully traceable soybean meal with a freshness advantage, a direct result of its localized production that bypasses the two-month sea voyage typically required for international imports.
This expanded production capacity will significantly boost Vietnam’s animal feed industry, reinforcing national food security and supporting the sustainable growth of its agricultural sector. Vietnam’s livestock industry has consistently grown at 3–5% annually over the past two decades, fueling strong demand for plant-based protein sources like soybean meal. Historically reliant on imports, the expansion of local soybean crushing facilities like VAL’s not only secures raw material supply and provides more flexibility and efficiency to customers but also retains greater value within the country, marking a strategic move towards national self-sufficiency and sustainable development in animal husbandry.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Vi, General Director of Vietnam Agricultural Products Trading Company Limited (VAL), shared about a significant milestone in VAL's long-term strategy.
At the event, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, stated: “Today’s inauguration ceremony stands as vivid testimony to the trust of international investors in Ho Chi Minh City’s prospects for robust and sustainable development. The new plant is expected to become one of the major agricultural processing projects in Southeast Asia. It will feature modern production lines that meet stringent environmental standards and align with the City’s orientation toward high-tech agricultural development. I firmly believe that, with its strategic location in Phú Mỹ Ward - an industrial, urban, port, and logistics gateway of the City - together with its capacity to supply around 30% of the soybean meal market for the animal feed industry, this project will play an important role in ensuring food security, reducing supply chain risks, and stabilizing production costs for the livestock sector; increasing budget revenue, creating thousands of stable, high-income jobs, thereby improving the livelihoods of residents and fostering the City’s sustainable growth.”
The plant is estimated to produce more than 500,000 tons of crude soybean oil annually, catering to both domestic consumption and export markets. This elevates Vietnam’s standing among the region’s leading soybean oil exporters, with significant reach into key markets such as South Korea.

VAL's total oil pressing capacity reaches 7,800 tons/day, meeting approximately 30% of the domestic animal feed demand.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Vi, General Director of Vietnam Agribusiness Limited (VAL), stated: “The inauguration of our second soybean crushing line marks a pivotal milestone in VAL’s long-term strategy to expand production capacity in order to meet growing demand in both domestic and international markets. It reflects our strong commitment to supporting Vietnam’s livestock industry and advancing the nation’s strategic goal of securing essential raw materials. With one of the largest integrated production complexes in the region, powered by advanced technology and guided by a sustainability-driven approach, VAL is confident in its ability to deliver meaningful value to our partners and communities—contributing to the development of a modern, self-reliant, and sustainable livestock industry.”

Guests were introduced to the key milestones in VAL's formation and development journey, as well as the typical products that VAL provides to its customers.
The newly inaugurated second soybean crushing line reflects VAL’s longstanding commitment to “green growth – responsible development.” This advanced facility actively integrates waste-heat recovery and reuse systems for reduced energy consumption, a closed-loop water circulation system for optimized resource use and minimal discharge, and continuous automation to mitigate workplace risks. VAL further cultivates a robust safety culture through ongoing training across all operations. By championing these core pillars of efficiency, sustainability, and safety, VAL not only strengthens its production capabilities but also reaffirms its profound responsibility to the environment, the community, and future generations, driving long-term sustainable growth.
