Hoiana Shores Golf Club has been selected to host the 18th Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC), taking place from 28 to 31 October 2027. This marks the first time the Championship will be held in Vietnam, representing a significant milestone for Hoiana Shores and Vietnamese golf on the international stage.
The announcement was made by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), the Masters Tournament and The R&A, the Championship’s three founding partners. The event will bring together the region’s leading male amateur golfers for four days of competition on the coastal course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.

Hosting the 2027 AAC builds on Hoiana Shores’ staging of the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific in 2025 and provides an opportunity to showcase Central Vietnam’s landscapes, culture and hospitality experiences to the international golf community.
“We are honoured that Hoiana Shores Golf Club has been selected to host the 2027 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, marking the first time this prestigious event will be held in Vietnam,” said Wee Peng Siong, Vice President, Golf, at Hoiana Shores Golf Club. “This is a proud milestone for Hoiana Shores and an opportunity to showcase the growth of golf in Vietnam to the international community. We look forward to welcoming the region’s leading amateur golfers, delivering a memorable championship experience and introducing them to the landscapes, cultural heritage and warm hospitality of Central Vietnam.”

Established to support the development of golf across the region, the AAC provides amateur golfers with a pathway to some of the world’s greatest stages. The champion will receive an invitation to compete in the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club and an exemption into The Open the following year. The runner-up, or joint runners-up, will earn a place in Final Qualifying for The Open.
Notable past competitors include Hideki Matsuyama, the 2021 Masters champion and a two-time AAC winner; Cameron Smith, the 2022 Open champion; and Ryan Fox, the 2026 Open champion. Their achievements underline the Championship’s role in identifying and developing golf talent across the region.
Opened in 2019, Hoiana Shores Golf Club is a links-style course set among coastal sand dunes, with sweeping views of the sea and the nearby Cham Islands. Robert Trent Jones Jr.’s design combines the natural landscape with strategic challenges, offering a rewarding experience for golfers of varying abilities.

Located near the ancient town of Hoi An, the course reflects the area’s cultural identity through its distinctive red basket lanterns, which replace traditional flags on each hole. Hoiana Shores was included in Golf Travel’s “Asia Top 100 Golf Courses” in 2026 and “The LINKS 100 – The World’s Top 100 Golf Courses” by LINKS Magazine in 2025. Previously, in 2022, Golf Digest recognised it as the “Best Golf Course in Vietnam”.
As part of Hoiana Resort & Golf, an integrated resort and entertainment destination on Vietnam’s central coast, Hoiana Shores connects golf with a diverse range of accommodation, dining and entertainment experiences. Its proximity to Hoi An and the region’s cultural heritage sites also allows golfers and visitors to combine competition with leisure and destination discovery.
Through the 2027 AAC, Hoiana Shores aims to deliver an exceptional championship and hospitality experience while helping strengthen Vietnam’s position as a destination for international golf events and golf tourism.
