Party Chief Manh Talks with Singaporean Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew

Singapore will promote friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, especially in trade, investment, and human resources training, and is willing to share its development experience with Vietnam, said Singaporean Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew at a cordial talk with Vietnamese Party Chief Nong Duc Manh in Hanoi in the afternoon of January 17.
 
At the meeting Lee Kuan Yew congratulated Vietnam on its renovation achievements, WTO membership, and success in hosting 14th APEC Summit. He also expressed his beliefs that Vietnam could continue to attain high and sustainable economic growth.
 
Manh, for his part, affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy to give priority to promoting and expanding relations with neighboring and regional nations including Singapore.
 
In the morning of the same day, Lee Kuan Yew worked with President Nguyen Minh Triet and pledged to share Singapore’s development experience with Vietnam.
 
On January 16, Lee Kuan Yew talked with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. The two vowed to strengthen and boost friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two nations. They agreed to use the Joint Statement on Vietnam-Singapore Cooperation Framework in the 21st Century as an important legal foundation to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Minister Mentor Lee will visit Vietnam until January 20. (Young People)
