Taiwan's Foxconn to Pour US$1Bln into HCMCity

Foxconn Group of Taiwan has just received approval in principle from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to carry out two projects worth US$1 billion, state media said.
 
The projects includes the construction of a 200-ha hi-tech park in Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park (IP) in Cu Chi district and a 10-ha modern trade and services center in Thu Thiem new urban area.
 
The group is also seeking the Vietnamese Government’s permission to invest US$4 billion into six other localities namely Hanoi, Danang, Lang Son, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh and Bac Giang. The investment will focus on building hi-tech production projects, offices and trade centers for hire.
 
Foxconn, the trade name for Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd as Taiwan’s largest technology company, is also the biggest manufacturer of connectors for use in PCs in Taiwan, and a leading maker of connectors and cable assemblies in the world. It obtains average annual turnover of over US$45 billion.
