Singapore's SembCorp to Expand Operations in Vietnam
Singapore-based SembCorp Industries will pour US$103.7 million to build an industrial park in northern Vietnam, Japan’s Asahi newspaper said August 14.
The 700-ha industrial park will be located in Bac Ninh province, 45 km north of Hanoi.
Nine other investors also pledged to invest US$79.8 million in the project.
Sembcorp August 13 inked an agreement with the Haiphong People’s Committee to carry out feasible study on building another industrial park in northern Haiphong city.
“We are very bullish that our growth in Vietnam will be attractive for us.", adding that Sembcorp is also looking for power projects in the second-fastest growing economy in Asia, said Tang Kin Fei, the group’s president and CEO.
SembCorp Industries has attained half-year earnings of SUS$258.3 million, up 55 per cent on-year. Its revenue grew 8.3 per cent in the period to SUS$3.85 billion. (Vietnam & World Economy,
