Russia, Vietnam Discuss Measures to Boost All-round Cooperation Ties
Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem held talks with Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov to strengthen the bilateral comprehensive cooperation relations on the sideline of 19th APEC Ministerial Meeting slated for Sept 5-6 in Sydney, Australia.
Khiem for his part reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistence policy, highly speaking of the Vietnam-Russia friendship and strategic partnership.
Russian foreign minister Servey Lavrov stressed that Russia is keen on expanding the trade and investment relations with Vietnam.
Vietnam recently signed a cooperative agreement with Mekong-Emeral Trade Center of Russia during their Russian working visit in mid August.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Russia was estimated to reach US$1.1 billion in 2006, up 8 per cent on-year, said government statistics, stressing that the two countries aim to raise bilateral trade to US$2-3 billion in 2010. (VNA)
