Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) will likely to rise 1 per cent-1.2 per cent on month in Sept this year because of rising purchase demand in Mid-Autumn festival and new school year, the Market Management Group said on August 26.

Prices of food, confectionery, drink, paper and school stationeries are forecast to increase in September.

Unexpected weather, raining season, epidemics, and high level of global material prices will continue to affect domestic products, the group said.

Ministries and agencies need to continue taking austere measures to control prices and balance demand and supply of essential goods to deal with possible fluctuations, the group added.

According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam’s CPI in August is estimated to rise by 1.56 per cent from July, 21.65 per cent from the end of 2007 and 28.32 per cent from one year ago. (Capital Security)
