EC Suggests Minimum Prices for Vietnam Shoe Exporters
The European Commission (EC) has suggested Vietnam should give a voluntary commitment on prices so as to avoid being imposed with 10 per cent on leather shoe exports to the European Union (EU) in the coming time, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper reported.
Accordingly, the EC may accept that Vietnamese leather-capped shoe exporters voluntarily pledge to give a selling price level which is not lower than the minimum level into the EU.
The price level proposed by the Vietnamese enterprises must be accepted by the EC.
Executing this commitment will help the enterprises avoid being levied with the anti-dumping duty of 10 per cent.
If reaching soon, the EC may not impose the punitive tax from January 1, 2009.
The commitment will stop when the EC decides not to levy the tax, after its review. (Vietnam Economic Times)
