Vietnam will export cement from 2010 as the country is forecast to see oversupply of 5 million tons by the year, according to the Ministry of Construction (MoC).

The ministry has requested Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation, joint ventures and other large cement production bases to quickly seek export market for cement so as to ensure production stability.

The MoC also said Vietnam will not lack cement in 2009 as it will be able to turn out 45.5 million tons next year while the domestic demand is estimated at some 45 million tons.

An additional 28 cement projects will be operational in 2008-2009 period.

However, the country will likely have to import some 0.8-1 million tons of clinker for grinding stations in the first months of 2009. (Youth, cafef.vn)
