Cement Sales to Hit 41 Mln Tons in 2008

National cement sales will reach 4 million in December, up 10 per cent-12 per cent on-year, bringing the total figure to 40-41 million tons in 2008, according to the Ministry of Construction. 
 
Cement sales reached 35.62 million tons in the first eleven months, representing 89.1 per cent of the yearly target, the ministry said.
 
In the eleven-month period, clinker imports were reported at 3.2 million tons, representing 91.4 per cent of the year’s target.
 
At present, cement industry has 1.7 million tons of clinker and 450,000 tons of cement in stock.
 
The ministry said earlier that Vietnam will export cement from 2010 as the country is forecast to see oversupply of 5 million tons by the year.
 
It also said Vietnam will not lack cement in 2009 as it will be able to turn out 45.5 million tons next year while the domestic demand is estimated at some 45 million tons. (Investment, VoV)
