Vietnam Will not to Sell Rubber Latex for Below US$1,350/Ton
The Vietnam Rubber Association (VRA) has advised Vietnamese rubber-exporting companies not to sell latex for below US$1,350 a ton from January 2009.
The price was also fixed by the International Rubber Council, including three world’s biggest exporters of Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Vietnamese rubber latex is now offered at US$1,000-US$1,200 a ton.
The VRA said in case the price drops to below US$1,000 a ton, it will encouraged its members to collect latex from farmers for reserve, and prevent the price from shrinking further.
Last year, Vietnam exported 645,000 tons of rubber worth US$1.597 billion, down 9.8 per cent on year in volume but up 14.7 per cent in value. (Vietnam Agriculture)
