The Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) has targeted to earn US$1.72 billion from exports and obtain production and export growth of 5 per cent-10 per cent this year.

Vinatex made export revenues of US$1.7 billion last year, said the group’s vice General Director Le Tien Truong earlier.

This year, the group will focus on making products in the segment for medium income earners as the demand for textile and garment products in key export markets like the U.S., Japan and the EU will fall due to economic slump.

Besides traditional markets, Vinatex will boost exports to other Asian countries, Africa and the Middle East.

The entire apparel sector expects to make export value of US$9.2 billion-US$9.5 billion this year, ensuring jobs and income for workers. (The People, VietNamNet)
