Vietnam’s plastics industry has targeted to earn US$1 billion from exports this year, up 15.9 per cent on-year, according to the Vietnam Plastic Association (VPA).

Phan Van Thanh, VPA chairman, said the industry did well to achieve high export growth last year despite the recession, adding the sector shipped its products to 55 markets around the world, with the U.S. and Japan being the main markets.

Vietnam exports products including boxes, shopping bags, pipes, household and office products.

To reach this year’s goal, Vietnamese plastic enterprises are focusing on investment to install new machinery and technologies to strengthen their competitiveness at home and abroad. (Young People, Vietnam Economic Times)
