The government of Vietnam is expected to dole out VND900 billion (US$51.5 million) to support vocational training for rural workers from now until 2015 to help them satisfy professional requirements of the national development.

Under a project outlined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and is waiting for the government’s approval, around 300,000 rural laborers will be trained in cultivation, livestock breeding and related services each year.

The figure is one of the goals set in the national target program which is designed to train one million rural workers per annum, including 300,000 farm workers and 700,000 others working in other fields.

The government also set a target for rural laborers to account for 30 per cent of the country’s total workforce by 2020, of which more than 50 per cent will undergo training.

By 2020 when Vietnam becomes industrialized country it will have around 17 million rural workers. (VNA, Labor)
