Vietnam Exports 5.28 Mln Tons Coal in Q1, Down 12.2 per cent On-year
Vietnam is estimated to have shipped abroad 5.28 million tons of coal in the first three months this year, valued at US$262 million, down 12.2 per cent on-year in volume and 1.4 per cent on-year in value, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.
In March, the Southeast Asian country is forecast to have exported 1.5 million tons worth US$80 million, the office said.
This year, the country is forecast to export 20.5 million tons, 500,000 tons higher than 2008.
Vietnam is currently key coal supplier to China and Japan. (GSO Mar 2009)
