U.S. Leading Firms to Arrive in Vietnam Soon

A delegation of nearly 20 top companies from the U.S. will come to Vietnam from May 13-15 to seek business opportunities.
 
The mission will include big names GE, Caterpillar, Exxon Mobil, Chevron, ConocoPhilips, Abbott, AES, AIG, Ford, Times Warner, UPS, Guardian Industries, Monsato, Jhpiego, IBA and APCO Worldwide.
 
The visit arranged by the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council aims to study Vietnam’s socio-economic development strategic draft between 2011 and 2020 and the country’s priorities to develop the areas of commerce, transport infrastructure, finance, energy, health and agriculture.
 
During the stay in Vietnam, the guests will discuss the U.S. groups’ contributions in technology transfer, technical assistance and human resource training to help Vietnam carry out the priorities.
 
The U.S. companies will also learn about Vietnam’s policies to respond to the global economic slump.
 
In the first four months of this year, the U.S. topped among foreign investors in Vietnam with over US$3.8 billion, pushing to South Korea and Hong Kong to the second and third respectively. (Investment)
