Vietnam’s apparel export turnover to South Korea in the first quarter this year rose 51.5 per cent on-year to US$43 million while the footwear export value to the market also increased 12.3 per cent to US$15.5 million.

South Korea is now Vietnam’s sixth biggest importer of textiles and garments products and eighth biggest importer of footwear products.

Vietnam ranks the fourth among footwear exporters to the South Korean market, accounting for 4.7 per cent of the country’s total footwear imports, after China (63 per cent), Italy (14.8 per cent) and Indonesia (5.2 per cent).

Vietnamese footwear producers find difficult to offer a competitive price level due to the heavy dependence on imported materials and high transport fees. (Vinanet)
