Vietnam Imports US$4.44Bln Machinery, Equipment in Jan-May

Vietnam is estimated to have spent US$4.44 billion on buying machines, equipment, production lines and spare parts in the first five months, an on-year decrease of 23.9 per cent, said the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO).
 
The figure makes up 18.51 per cent of the country’s total import value during the period.
 
In May, the nation imports US$1.05 billion worth of the products, up 16.41 per cent on month, said the GSO.
 
Vietnam is forecast to have reaped US$660 million from exporting these products during Jan-May, including US$140 million this month, reported the GSO giving no on-year comparative figures. (GSO May 2009)
