The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance (MoF) has decided to slash export tariffs on apatite ore to 7 per cent from the current 10 per cent beginning August 1.

The decision has confused some domestic economists as the country is planning to raise export taxes on natural resources.

The MoF also adjusted the export tax rate to 5 per cent on lead bars beginning June 15, said the People newspaper, but it did not report whether 5 per cent represented an increase or reduction in the export tax. (The People, Labor)
