Panasonic recently in Hanoi awarded the First Prize of Kid Witness News (KWN) Vietnam 2009 National Contest to the Lomonosov secondary school team with the video clip titled “The Journey of Green Sticky Rice”.

The other prizes of “Best Script” were awarded to the video clip titled “Dream” from Nguyen Sieu Secondary School, “Best Anchor” to “Hanoi Old Street” from Doan Thi Diem Secondary School, “Best Editing” to “Magical Fingers” from Vietnam International Secondary School and “Best Originality” to “Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam” from Thuc Nghiem Secondary School.

“The Journey of Green Sticky Rice” received appreciation from the Jury, as pupils had selected a classic example of Vietnam’s culture; a topic so ordinary but typical of Hanoi Autumn.

As a result, the KWN team from the Lomonosov school will represent Vietnam at the KWN regional and global contests. The KWN global awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in Japan at the beginning of July next year.

KWN is a global video education programme initiated by Panasonic, with the aim to boost creativity and communication skills and foster teamwork through video production by children aged 10 to 15 years old. As of January more than 130,000 children around the world have participated in the programme since it first began in the US in 1989.
