The Vietnamese prime minister has approved the establishment of a steering committee to prepare for the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia scheduled to open in the country next June.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with other concerned agencies to decide duties and members of the committee before submitting them to the PM for approval.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has been assigned to chair the committee.

The 2010 forum is expected to make a new step for countries to reach a consensus on development plans in the post-crisis period.

The WEF on East Asia is held annually to boost economic and trade ties among countries in East Asia and the world.
