Vietnam Business Forum quotes statements of business people in Bac Lieu province on the improvement of investment environment in the province.
“Improvement needed,” Mr Truong Van Su, Director of Bac Lieu Petroleum Branch, Petrolimex Tay Nam Bo
With new efforts to diversify commodities, industries and markets, Bac Lieu Petroleum Branch has successfully achieved all targets, maintaining market share and key role in fuel supply in the province.
The main success is the close coordination between business efficiency and business culture, promoting sense of responsibility, knowledge and civilization. In 2009, the turnover of the company was VND450 billion, 102 % of 2008, ensuring stable supply in the province and confidence among clients. The company has applied FlexiCard instead of cash in payment, improving payment and convenience for clients.
To improve business efficiency and confidence of clients in 2010 with the transformation of PetroVietnam into equitized company or one-member Co., Ltd, Bac Lieu Petroleum Branch will have several changes in business activities while maintaining a growth rate of 5 %.
“More investment in water transport,” Mr Ho Thanh Tri, Director of Bac Lieu Trade JSC
Being equitized in 2004 with enormous difficulties, Bac Lieu Trade JSC has overcome all challenges and embarked on a stable course of development while reorganizing the workforce, applying new technology and equipment and expanding the market. Together with business efficiency, the company has improved the living conditions of the workers.
In the 2010 development plan, we will increase investments and make the best use of existing potentials. The company will consolidate distribution networks and traditional markets and expand them to neighbouring provinces. We will also build a supermarket in Bac Lieu town worth over VND10 billion.
The province should make bigger investment in transport infrastructure, especially water ways. The shallow Sang – Bac Lieu canal makes it difficult for water transport causing losses of time, money and even human life. I therefore propose that the provincial authorities should invest more in the dredging of the canal to facilitate water transport and trade for socio-economic development of the province.
“Everything for the clients,” Mr Duong Van Cop, Director of Phuong Ngoc private company
For 30 years in the interior decoration business, I have listened to clients and understood their tastes. Starting from goodwill, Phuong Ngoc is known as a reliable brand in interior decoration. Our slogan: Clients, first and continue to improve quality and prestige. In effect, all Phuong Ngoc products are with clear origins.
At present, the company has over 60 workers with high skill and experienced service, ready to help customers in consulting, buying, delivery and after-sale service. As a result, customers have full confidence in Phuong Ngoc. Phuong Ngoc has also fulfilled its social responsibility by making charity contributions and helping disadvantaged families.
Due to its contribution to socio-economic development, two years in a row (2008-2009), the company has been honoured by Bac Lieu People’s Committee as an exemplary enterprise. In particular, Phuong Ngoc was one of seven exemplary companies of the whole Mekong Delta in 2009.
“Local support as lever for business development,” Mr Fukuda Satoru, Director of Nigico Aquaproducts Co., Ltd
Nigico was established in 1995 on the basis of the joint venture between NISSUI – one of the world’s biggest aquaculture companies with an office in Tokyo and Gia Rai Import-Export Co., Ltd. Nigico is a combination of high technology in seafood processing of Nissui and rich resources of fresh aqua products of Vietnam. In recent years, because of the world economic crisis, our business efficiency was somewhat lower but still in better position than most other companies. The success is due to the support of Nissui and mostly from our own correct policy of business activities. We have focused on: our own safety, safe and high quality product, meeting the demand of customers, high productivity and Nigico working style.
Presently, the biggest difficulty for our company as well as others in Bac Lieu is the serious shortage of raw materials and workforce. In addition, prolonged electricity blackout also causes big loss to the company. It is forecasted that the blackout will be even more serious this year. I submit that the authorities will make every effort to ensure the electricity supply to Nigico and others. Nigico has established last year Nigico aquaculture company to ensure its own supply of raw materials. I request Bac Lieu authorities to support us especially in electricity supply, building roads and control of water supply to fish raising farms.
