Chevron Joins Hands to Improve Education in Mekong Delta

 

Chevron-led consortium consisting of Chevron Vietnam Ltd. (US), Mitsui Oil Exploration Co., Ltd. (MOECO) (Japan), and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) (Thailand), recently granted scholarships to 540 schoolchildren in Kien Giang and Ca Mau provinces, and Can Tho City, in partnership with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC). 

 

The initiative is part of a larger Chevron led programme to provide scholarships to 775 children in Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu provinces and Can Tho City. The partners will also upgrade one school in each province and in Can Tho City. The total value of the Partners’ donation to the NFVC this year is VND 2.3 billion (US$125,000).  

 

The partners’ goal for the sponsorship is to build a better future for local communities by expanding access to education for children in the Mekong Delta. Chevron, MOECO and PTTEP are also working with an international NGO in Vietnam, Habitat for Humanity, along with the local Government in Kien Giang Province, to provide sustainable housing solutions, including water, sewage and sanitation for underprivileged communities.
