300 Firms to Attend Woodwork, Handicraft Expo in HCM City

Up to 300 domestic and foreign companies will participate in the International Furniture and Handicraft Fair and Exhibition, or Expo 2010, to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from Oct 6-10.
 
The participants have registered for more than 800 display booths at the Expo, said Tran Vinh Nhung, deputy director of the city’s Department of Industry and Trade, organizer of the event.
 
Nhung added that twenty of the participants will be honored during the expo, for their contribution their contribution to the city’s export performance over the last 10 years,
 
Ho Chi Minh City and its neighboring provinces including Binh Duong and Dong Nai are responsible for nearly 80% of the nation’s total woodwork exports.
 
Wooden goods exports expanded from several hundred million U.S. dollars in 2000 to more than US$2.6 billion last year and are expected to hit US$3 billion this year. (Youth)
