METALEX Vietnam 2010 - New Phenomenon Discovered for Vietnam’s Industry

During 7-9 October at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the new phenomenon has been recorded in Vietnam’s metalworking and supporting industries for a great number of up to 11,410 industry leaders nationwide flocked into the grand event of METALEX Vietnam 2010,” revealed Mr. Duangdej Yaikwarmdee, Deputy Managing Director - Commercial of Reed Tradex Company, Thailand and Vietnam’s #1 exhibition and conference organizer.

 

This is considered Vietnam’s Most Comprehensive Machine Tools and Metalworking Technology Exhibition organized by Reed Tradex, and the “4^th Exhibition on Supporting Industries in HCMC,” focusing on parts and accessories from Japanese and Vietnamese manufacturers in Vietnam organized by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO,) Ho Chi Minh Office and Investment & Trade Promotion Center (ITPC,) Ho Chi Minh City.

Here, all visitors got their first-hand experience to see a wide array of the latest innovations and new technologies from the world’s famous brands, while enjoying a rare opportunity to nourish themselves with promising industrial trends and efficient strategies for their business developments. As a result, exhibitors have made their confirmation to participate in the forth-coming shows, and visitors have made their determination to attend the next series. Specifically, “METALEX Vietnam” has been serving Vietnamese and Thai businesses towards the fast-growing industrial developments. Also strengthened by the “4^th Exhibition on Supporting Industries in Ho Chi Minh City” in this edition, the trade opportunities will satisfy Vietnamese and Japanese manufacturers.

 

Mr. Tetsusaburo Hayashi, Executive Vice President of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) said “JETRO is a government-related body that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. We have 72 offices in 55 countries, 23 of which are in Asia, which work to support the region’s growth and development, including assistance to developing nations on trade and investment expansion.

 

“This event aims to develop supporting industries in Vietnam as part of cooperation projects based on the Japan-Vietnam Economic Partnership Agreement (JVEPA) signed in 2008. Today there are approximately 850 Japanese-affiliated firms operating in the country, bringing with them job creation and technology transfer, and hopefully adding to Vietnam’s development. One of the main issues for these firms is the difficulty in procuring parts. According to a JETRO survey, Vietnam ranks lower than its ASEAN neighbors in terms of local content rates for Japanese-affiliated firms in these countries; more parts are sourced from Japan, Thailand, China and others. This issue affects not only the price competitiveness of firms operating locally, but also Vietnam’s international competitiveness.”

Mr. Chatri Limpongsai, Director of BoI Unit for Industrial Linkage Development Thailand Board of Investment (BoI): Vietnam’s industry is developing day by day, and it becomes an interesting market for international investors. This is the second time that we participate in this show in Vietnam, and we will join again next year.
