Two non-refundable grant contracts for equipping a vocational training centre in Dong Nai province and building a primary school in Ninh Thuan province were signed on October 22, 2010 at the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City under the Japanese Government’s education support projects.

Japan will provide US$91,367 for Dinh Quan District Vocational Training Centre, Dong Nai province, to purchase machine tools to help trainees to have more opportunities to practise and find jobs at large industrial parks in the province. Another grant of US$104,446 will be used to build a two-storey building at Hoa Thanh Primary School in Ninh Thuan province.

To date, Japan has funded 112 projects worth over US$8 million, contributing to improving living conditions for people in Vietnam’s southern rural areas.

At the signing ceremony, Mr Tetsumi Murata, Acting Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, said: "I hope the aid contract signing will contribute positively to improving the quality of education and vocational training, as well as to creating jobs and improving living conditions for local people. Japan will continue to implement this programme in Vietnam in the future."
