Manual Customs Checks Reduced

The General Customs Department has recently asked local customs agencies to limit their manual checks on imports and exports.

Exporters will now only need a single check with a customs officer to complete procedures upon bringing goods to warehouses. The chief customs officer at the border gate is responsible for appointing the staff to supervise specific batches of goods so as to limit unnecessary procedures.

In any case, checking equipment should be used to its full capacity to avoid lengthy manual inspections. Imports that conform to regulations will be examined for tax calculations only if they require a quick customs clearance.n
