Vietnam's recent economic growth has increased demand for the upgrading of construction and infrastructure, especially in major cities. It is apparent that there is a great potential for development, and the plans to improve national infrastructure will help the nation to advance in the future.
The Dutch company Fugro NV is an engineering services group operating in the fields of geotechnical engineering, surveying and geosciences. Fugro works on land, at sea and in the air and has international experience stretching back for nearly 50 years. The fast growth of the Vietnamese economy in recent years has given Fugro an opportunity to expand its onshore geotechnical engineering division in the country.
In September 2009, Fugro established Fugro Geotechnics Vietnam LLC as a permanent office in Ho Chi Minh City to provide high quality geotechnical services to the civil engineering and construction industry in Vietnam and adjacent countries. The services offered include site investigation and laboratory testing, geotechnical instrumentation, foundation testing, and engineering consultancy. Fugro Geotechnics Vietnam LLC can also, with the support of its sister companies, offer a wide range of advanced services in the fields of remote sensing, survey, positioning, meteorology, pavements and water services. No other company in the world can provide the same comprehensive range of geotechnical, survey and geosciences services.
Since its establishment, Fugro Geotechnics Vietnam LLC has been involved in several major infrastructure projects in Vietnam, including the Gemalink Container Terminal in Vung Tau, the North-South Expressway, the Thi Vai Cai Mep International Container Terminal, the Rao II Bridge in Haiphong, and the Duyen Hai Power Plant.
“Our success comes from quality, technology and teamwork,” said M H Liao, Fugro's General Director in Vietnam. “This means that we provide services of high quality, supported by Fugro’s Quality Management System to ensure that our services meet the requirements of our clients. Our co-operation and teamwork are enhanced by Fugro's worldwide resources, intercompany training, exchange of employees and technologies, ongoing corporate research and development programs, and our good corporate management structure.”
Fugro's presence in Vietnam also shows the confidence that Dutch businesses have in the Vietnamese economy. Fugro is pleased that the company can contribute its expertise to Vietnam’s economic development, the construction industry in particular, while at the same time, helping train a new generation of Vietnamese engineers for the future.
