Hanoi Budgets US$11.3 Mln for Promoting Rural Industry
The People's Committee of Hanoi has decided to spend VND235 billion (US$11.3 million) on promoting the development of industry in the city’s rural areas in the 2011-2015 period.
The city authorities also plan to boost the average annual industrial growth rate in rural areas to 18.22%, which is equal to the industrial growth rate for the whole city. The export turnover from rural industry is targeted to reach US$300 million by 2015, accounting for 20 - 25% of the city’s total industrial production.
To achieve such targets, Hanoi authorities have designed seven programmes to stimulate industrial development including promoting vocational training; improving the management capacity of business leaders and officials in rural areas; accelerating technology transfers and using advanced technology in production. The programmes also include developing industries and products suitable for rural areas; providing information and supporting consultancies; assisting joint venture businesses and improving the management and operation of industry promotion activities.
