Vietnam to Host 2nd Asia-Pacific Conference on Geological Parks
Vietnam will hold the second Asia-Pacific International Conference on Geological Parks from July 16 to 24. The government has appointed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in conjunction with the Ha Giang Province People’s Committee, the National Commission on UNESCO Vietnam and relevant agencies to organize the event.
The conference will cover six main subjects: exhibiting geological parks and heritages; opening short training courses on geological parks; the second international Asia-Pacific conference on geological parks themed “Geological Parks and Geo-tourism for Sustainable Development”; executive meetings of Global Geoparks Network (GGN) and Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN); visit to the world heritage Thang Long imperial citadel; the 8th annual national conference among management boards of world heritage, biosphere reserves, geological parks, national parks and natural conservation areas and investment forums for enterprises and tourism agents; and a fact-finding trip to the Dong Van Karst Plateau, Quang Ninh Province’s Ha Long Bay and Hai Phong’s Cat Ba biosphere reserve area.
Under the conference’s content, Ha Giang Province People’s Committee has been making preparations for facilities and organization works. The province has worked together with other agencies to complete the system of signposts and build tours to serve tourists.
