Hoi An Summer 2004 Opens

A tourism programme called Impression of Hoi An Summer 2004 has been organised from July 31 to August 29, giving tourists a "great cultural party" and official a chance to review new tourist activities.

The programme includes many activities to take place in large areas in the historic town of Hoi An, one of the most attractive tourist destinations in central Viet Nam, from its ancient streets to the Thu Bon River, Cua Dai beach and Cu Lao Cham island. The tourist Month will turn Hoi An into a giant stage both during the day and night.

The month started with exhibitions of history, life and customs of the people in Hoi An, providing visitors with general knowledge about the ancient town - a crowded and bustling port in southeast Asia in the 16th and 17th centuries. Almost all the historical sites, many old customs are still well preserved.

Organisers hope that "Impression of Hoi An Summer 2004" will open a new development stage for Hoi An's tourism services.
