Vietnamese enterprises and entrepreneurs felt very excited to learn about Resolution 09-NQ/TW on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the period of accelerating industrialisation, modernisation and international economic integration. This was the general feeling and mood of Vietnamese businesspeople at the recent meeting with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
It is undeniable that Vietnamese entrepreneurs have made significant contributions to the development of Vietnam in the past decades, particularly in the time of deepening international economic integration. At the meeting with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that enterprises and entrepreneurs played a very important role in the process of national industrialisation and modernisation. All levels and branches of authorities must accompany entrepreneurs.

The meeting between General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and entrepreneurs highlighted the recognition and appreciation of the Party for businesspeople.

Previously, a successful businessperson was still looked down on by society because of old thinking towards merchants. At present, the growth of Vietnamese economy is linked with the names of Vietnamese entrepreneurs. Their hearts and nationalistic spirits have created the calibre of Vietnamese businesspeople with the qualities to compete against world-leading groups with their dynamism and creativity.

However, on that arduous journey, many businesspeople failed because of their incorrect perception and wrongdoings. However, they are a very small number of entrepreneurs in Vietnam, who are willing to overcome challenges with a brave heart and mind to bring Vietnam to a higher global arena.

Resolution 09-NQ/TW of the Politburo on Vietnamese entrepreneurs is a hallmark in national economic development. This is the first time in the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam a resolution of the Politburo on businesspeople is formally promulgated and disseminated to grassroots levels. This resolution clearly specifies that our country’s businesspeople force has not stopped growing to make positive contributions to the implementation of socio-economic development strategies, create jobs for workers, ensure social welfare, alleviate poverty, and gradually improve corporate reputation, brand, and product trademarks to raise the position of Vietnam on the international forum.
The Resolution also specifies directions to support creating momentum for Vietnamese entrepreneurs to develop in the new reform era: Supporting entrepreneurs to build product brand names; boosting accessibility to domestic and international markets by means of trade promotion programmes; and providing legal knowledge and information about market, science and technology for enterprises. There are policies to encourage and support the development of businesspeople in rural areas; improve access to information on finance, technology and market for entrepreneurs in these areas, ensuring harmoniously balanced benefits of entrepreneurs and farmers. Vietnam will focus on bettering entrepreneurship training, develop and implement business training programmes, provide new entrepreneurs with necessary knowledge about business, law and social responsibility, and gradually approach international legal standards in business administration training.

Vietnam will change programme contents and methods of economic and business administration training at universities, colleges and vocational schools towards the objective of enhancing the practicality of training programmes and performance of trainees. It will boost the relationship between schools, research institutes and enterprises; expanding demand-oriented training; encourage enterprises to invest in education; focus on moral education, national consciousness and the sense of community, and create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to learn and exchange experience with foreign businessmen.

This resolution is believed to be generating new vitality for entrepreneurs to lead their companies to move forward in 2012 to reach the harbour of happiness and prosperity.
