Trade Promotion to Focus on Eight Markets in 2012

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said the National Trade Promotion Programme carried out 669 trade promotion projects with a total budget of VND620.2 billion from 2006 to 2010, attracting the participation of more than 19,000 companies and bringing in 11,932 contracts. In 2011, the Minister of Industry and Trade approved the National Trade Promotion Programme with 50 projects conducted by 22 trade promotion organisations and 16 localities.
 
Mr Do Thang Hai, Director of Trade Promotion Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: Although the State budget for trade promotion activities remained limited and the value has tended to fall, national trade promotion activities brought in contracts worth over US$800 million in 2011.
 
In 2012, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) will focus on eight key export markets, namely the United States, Europe, China, Japan, ASEAN, India, Africa, and the Middle East - South Asia. This programme is expected to support Vietnam in attaining the export turnover target of US$108 billion in 2012.
