Ha Long Tourist Boats Installed GPS System

The Department of Transport of Quang Ninh province said more than 230 tourist vessels operating in Ha Long Bay have been equipped with global positioning system (GPS).

 

GPS will help better manage boats, promptly respond to bad situations, and ensure the safety of vehicles and tourists visiting the bay, especially during the rainy season.

 

The installation, which started last year, is a part of the province's VND12 billion (US$572,000) programme on improving management of tourist vessels and better ensuring the safety of tourists in the bay, which is prone to storms. The province plans to complete a programme on installing the satellite navigation system by April 30.
