Nearly 1.9 Mln Int’l Visitors to Vietnam in Q1, 2012
The General Statistics Office (GSO) said international visitor arrivals to Vietnam reached 561,877 in March, a year on year rise of 18.7 percent, bringing the total number of international tourists in the country to nearly 1.9 million, up 24.5 percent year on year.
Visitors going by air accounted for over 85 percent and the remainders came by land and sea. The number of seagoing tourists increased 33.7 percent from a year earlier in the quarter.
Neighbouring China took the lead in the number of visitors with nearly 392,000 in the three-month period, up 36 percent on year. South Korea was the runner-up with over 206,000 visitors, up 43.3 percent and Japan came third with 159,000 visitors, up 16.9 percent.
