Hue to Host Annual Meeting of Historic Cities in 2012

The 13th Annual Meeting of Historic Cities is scheduled to take place in Hue City on April 16, 2012. The overarching topic of this conference is “Defining universal challenges of heritages, and solutions.”
Taking place immediately after the Hue Festival, the three-day conference will include such activities as youth forum, roundtable meeting for experts and city leaders. The organisers said included with this conference will be an international photo exhibition on histories of member cities, aiming to promote the conservation and restoration of heritages.
 
The first Annual Conference of Historic Cities was held in Kyoto, Japan in 1987 with the participation of 26 cities from 25 countries worldwide. To date, it has 88 member cities from 56 countries in five continents. Two Vietnamese cities, namely Hanoi and Hue, officially joined in 2006.
