The tourism industry expects to serve 7-7.5 million international tourists and 36-37 million domestic guests by 2015.
The target was laid down in the national action program on tourism in 2013-2020 period recently approved by the PM.

Under the program, the sector aims for US$10-11 billion in revenue in the next three years.

By 2020, international guests are hoped to surge to 10-10.5 million and domestic arrivals would touch 47-48 million.

The program aims to improve the quality of 30% of tourism products by 2015 and raise the figure to 70% by 2020.

It also supports the creation of new tourism products in seven tourism regions in the country and improves human power on the field.

The program targets to build and develop a system of national and local tourism trademarks.

Competitions will be conducted to select outstanding travel agents, hotels, resorts and shopping centers to popularize them among visitors.

Under the national action program, big tourism events will be held to advertize tourism brand names especially National Tourism Year.

International cooperation will be boosted via Vietnamese Day and Vietnamese Week events held in other countries to introduce the images of Vietnam to international friends.

In 2012, the number of international arrivals to Vietnam reached a record of 6.647 million, surpassing the yearly target of 6.5 million. Revenues from international visitors were estimated at US$6.6 billion.
