VCCI, JETRO & Nikkei BP Co-Host Vietnam – Japan Economic Summit 2013

Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) together with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Nikkei Business Publication (Nikkei BP) is hosting the first Vietnam – Japan Economic Summit (VJES 2013) as one of the major activities to commemorate 40 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

The event will take place from 4th to 6th September 2013 in Hanoi, with support from the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Caucus,the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and various ministries, organizations and provinces of Vietnam and Japan.

The aim of VJES 2013 is to build closer economic and business ties between Japan and Vietnam, providing a place to exchange business updates and review the current economic relations between the two countries. Speaking in support of the Summit, Chief of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee for Organization and President of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Caucus, H.E. Prof. Dr. To Huy Rua hails this event to be a new economic platform linking Vietnamese and Japansese enterprises; where businesses would meet to exchange experiences and business opportunities.

VCCI Chairman and President, and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Year, Dr. Vu Tien Loc believes that VJES 2013 would further strengthen the economic cooperation between the two countries in the future, particularly by providing opportunities for direct dialogue between government officials at the ministerial and provincial levels at one end, and Vietnamese and Japanese businesses on the other.

Commenting on VJES 2013, Mr. Hirokazu Yamaoka, JETRO Chief Representative in Hanoi expects that the VJES would “contribute to the better understanding of the reality of Vietnam and encourage Japanese FDI in Vietnam”.  

The three-day event, which aims to encourage and enhance business activities between leading Vietnamese and Japanese companies, expects 400 delegates – panelists and participants including an exclusive group of business leaders, industry experts, policy-makers and government officials from both countries to provide professional insights and updates on business opportunities in the two markets.

VJES 2013 focuses on three topics including Vietnam-Japan Cooperation in Infrastructure Development, Industrialization Strategy& Supporting Industries, and Human Resources with the participation of industry leaders, experts and government officials as speakers. Participants will also take part in business matching sessions while browsing around the exhibition booths from local and joint venture manufacturers, with an option to attend site visits to industrial parks.

VJES 2013 is expected to provide participants with exclusive business opportunities and access to resources, capital and a credible business network to promote bilateral economic growth for both countries.
